it has been an incredibly busy week and i have lots of fun sessions and a wedding to get up soon. also we are finding a house in the virginia/DC area too! how exciting!!!

well the incredible artist dave barnes is releasing his newest album (me & you & the world) tomorrow. i am so excited! i have been waiting for months so i could add these new songs to my main site. (Thanks jami for your help with this, you rock!) dave barnes is an amazing singer/songwriter, from the first song i was hooked. he singes about real life, as it is. his music is laid back, honest and pure. marriage is real and it is refreshing to hear this album talk about how real it is. sometimes i think people get all caught up in how life should be. i think it is nice to take a break and think about the simpleness of love and life.

ok so here are a few pics from spring break. this was our first real week long family vacation. we drove to florida. and it actually was not too bad. i think it was much more fun that waiting in the airport with the kids. anyhow, we had so much fun. this was a true vacation for me. i didn’t even take my cameras!!! we took our point and shoot canon g9 and that was it! and a lot of these pics josh took. i really wanted to have my camera to take cool pics but more so i wanted to hang out with the kids and not be in picture mode.

so we started out our night with dinner with mickey and friends. kate and will had so much fun getting meet all the disney characters. will didn’t care for the princesses too much. i think he was shy around all the pretty girls. =) so i am back to work getting ready for allison and nick’s wedding this weekend. i hope all of you had a great week!

this is the bach in pensacola where we stayed the night before and after orlando.

tim and talida were married last saturday in houston at the beautiful memorial drive presbyterian chapel. tim and talida both live in NYC and they had so many friends and family come in from all over for their wedding. after the ceremony we had about an hour of play time with the wedding party. so talida wanted to take them to cavenders boot city to try on boots and experience TEXAS! it was so much fun and the manager there was so accommodating. he let us do what ever we wanted and they all tried on boots, shirts and talida even played with a lasso a bit. after that talida had a surprise private dinner for tim. we went to cova wine bar in the heights, where they had prepared a custom 4 course meal paired with wines for them. talida had it all set up with their favorites. it was so fun for them to relax a bit and eat before joining the party. the reception was at the west lake club. i loved every detail from talida’s cookie favors that she baked (check out her blog: talida bakes) and the green tea cake. talida and tim are amazing people i am so glad to know. the love they have for their friends and family and that they get in return is unlike any other i have ever known. they amazed me.

here are a few of our wedding pictures from back in 2000. we had the amazing david bates shoot our wedding all in black and white film. we had our ceremony in the little Heritage Presbyterian chapel on hwy 6 in houston. our pastor dave riggle came there to do the ceremony for us. so there is a little glimpse of my wedding. =)

today i have been married to josh for 8 years! we were married on 3.11.00. maybe later today i will scan in some wedding pics. but for now these are our engagement pictures. our friend joe (j cogliandro photography) took these 9 years ago. we were his first engagement session ever. =) pretty good huh? thanks joe! it is fun looking back because i was so young and in love. now 8 years, two kids later i am even more in love with josh than i knew was possible. –i love you babe!–happy anniversary!

so welcome to the new laura kay blog! i love it mostly for the bigger pictures. also, i out grew the space on my old one. another really cool thing is that i was able to import in all of my old posts and comments. so you can see everything that was on the old blog here on this one! BUT from this post on you will get the fancy big pictures. i am still tweaking this a bit and if i figure out how to make all of the old pics bigger i surely will!

so last saturday i met brooke in austin for this fun shoot. well it was a real shoot for brooke and i just went to hang out. when i wasn’t taking pics of brooke shooting or holding a reflector i snapped a few shots just for fun. if you want to see the real shots check out brooke’s blog.

well i am headed to houston for tim and talida’s wedding. i am so excited!!!!! i hope all of you have a fabulous weekend!!!

jen and will were married on feb 23rd at st. luke’s united methodist in the chapel. it is kind of a fun challenge because you can’t take pictures inside the chapel. so fortunately they have cool windows to shoot thru and it makes for a fun frame. they had their reception at hotel icon and gregory smith there was absolutely wonderful and so helpful! lisa tran did the flowers and they had macario with satirical effect caricature co. do really fun caricatures of all of the guests. it was so fun to watch him draw and everyone waiting around had a blast watching. that was so unique and everyone loved it! jamie casco and his band played awesome jazz all night. i met jen and will over a year ago when they first started planning their wedding. i has been so fun to get to know them and share this last year with them.

well josh spent most of last week flying back and forth from the port bring the blackhawks home. saturday was his last flight so the kids and i went to watch them come in and take some pictures. it had been a while since they had the chance to get in and play. we didn’t stay long because i had to get to austin to do a fun shoot with brooke. i will post more on that later. i hope all of you had a great weekend!!!
