erin: baby on the way

last week i had the opportunity to shoot erin’s (of erin j photography) maternity pictures. gosh i can’t even remember the last maternity shoot i did it was 2 or 3 years ago. so anyhow this was fun!! i shot with another great photographer here in the area that we go to girls photographer dinners with. rashmi pappau photography is great and it is fun to see how we shot the same thing and got different shots and looks. erin was such a trooper putting up with two of us! she has the most perfect little belly. her daughter haley jumped in and out of a few and those ended up being my favorites. this was my first shoot with my new mark ll 5D (aka 5D2) and this was also the only shoot i have ever shot in jpeg. i didn’t really have an option since this camera is so stinking new my software has not come out with updates to support the raw files. but i must say there is no difference in shooting raw and jpeg for me. i get the images right out of the camera so i don’t need the security of the raw info. something to think about. so i am loving this 21.1 megapixel and the higher ISO! wow! calling b&h every morning when they opened paid off to get to be one of the firsts to get this baby!

December 16, 2008 - 5:28 pm Armin - Laura these are awesome, Erin's looking gorgeous! We saw her yesterday and she looked great! I didn't know she had TWO cool photogs shooting her that day, sweet!

December 16, 2008 - 7:29 pm Rashmi - Gorgeous Laura! It was so fun shooting with you and I have a bit of camera envy! I kind of wish I had stuck with my 50mm 1.4 the entire shoot.. it is the lens i am most comfortable with.. the 20-70 is taking some getting used to for sure but nice to have the wide-angle for indoors. We should do this again! xoxo

December 16, 2008 - 11:56 pm Emily - The pics are so cute! I really like the daylight flooding through! Yes the pain of being a first adopter of a new camera! I ended up using the DNG converter for a while but I hate the extra step!

January 16, 2009 - 10:42 pm Beth - Ok- apparently your blog feed had dropped off my bloglines. I was thinking your must be to busy to post for the last couple of months - LOL! Well I am glad I came back and checked - these are gorgeous!! Love the lighting in the 2nd and yes I have camera envy too!
