DC photographer get together

so on tuesday night we had a photographer dinner with over 20 photographers from the DC, VA and MD area. we went to gorden bierch brewery in tysons corner. armin defiesta organized the whole thing. it was a lot of fun to get to hang out with a bunch of other photographers. you can imagine there were lots of cameras and lots of iphones. i usually do not bring my camera to things like this unless we are shooting because i would rather concentrate on hanging out and eating. so when you don’t have a camera you get goofy shots of you with the crazy lens. so i thought i would share my dorky looking picture as well. =) Sorry i have not been blogging much lately but i am resting up for this crazy busy fall that starts now for me. so don’t you worry there will be lots of posts coming real soon. this month i am going to houston for glennie and benny’s wedding, patricia and ryan’s e-session, jeanie’s bridal session and then i am going to alburquque NM for jeanette and brandon’s wedding. but you want to know what i have been doing? i have been meeting with lots of brides booking up 09 pretty fast, i shot a wedding with a new friend up here kate triano, and i have been enjoying this beautiful fall weather here! it is amazing and i love it! it is so crisp in the mornings when we walk kate to school. the leaves are starting to change and i can’t wait for it to happen even more. well that is about it. Nicki, Jeff, Hannah and Jacob are coming up this weekend. that is my sis-in law and family. That will be fun. so have a great weekend everyone! i am sure we will take pics this weekend and i will post them soon!

and thanks to noah hayes for taking these pictures!

jennifer and lloyd

meet jennifer and lloyd. they are getting married here in DC at dupont circle in january. i am sure everyone around here thinks it is no big deal but for this TX girl it is so stinking fun to be walking around shooting and look down the street and see the white house! so fun! this shoot made me smile because jennifer started off being so comfortable and it took lloyd about 5 minutes and a beer until he was good to go. =) they live right near dupont circle so we started out and ended right on their street. this first picture was literally right across the street from their place. i love it! then we headed over to their church and reception place which is all a few blocks of walking.  we found some pretty raunchy things in a near by alley that gave us a good laugh.

maria of the ritzy bee is their coordinator and if anyone is looking for an amazing coordinator here in DC she is your gal!  i am so excited to be apart of this wedding. such fun people!!!

jennifer and lloyd, thanks for being so fun!

montage-a-google fun!

so i just was reading elizabeth ann designs blog and look at what i found. montage-a-google is an application that generates montages from google searches. so you enter in a name or key words and it creates a montage for you. for fun i entered in my name and this is what popped up! pretty funny! i am not sure how it works or why some pictures are there and some are not. pretty fun though! the girls at EA entered in colors or phrases to get inspirations for wedding ideas. anyhow go check it out.

before and after: my office

so i did not book weddings this summer to do the move and get all settled in while josh was in that school the last two months. i love that i have the time to fix up my office and get all organized. at first it was cool having all this time off but now i am missing shooting so much. i don’t have a wedding until october and i actually really hope a few last minute weddings come my way. if not i may just see if any of my new photographer friends here need a second shooter. yes, i miss it that bad, i am volunteering to second shoot. anyhow, enough of me whining about wedding withdraws. on to the transformation of my office. so lets see. we (as in josh) took down the “god bless america” wall border, hung the cool green curtain to separate the office from the dining room. we also put up some picture rails and added a little furniture. i just love the way it turned out. in the morning imagine jason mraz and a big cup of coffee. in the evenings a glass of wine and adele (thanks veronica!) and there you go!  come on over! _mg_7831.jpgbefore office.jpg after

a little canadian wedding, eh?

lisa and i had so much fun going to canada last month to shoot marcie and miguel’s wedding. marcie is a cousin of mine. i got to meet her and her sister erin for the first time! i love my canadian relatives!  it was fun because my mom and dad in law were there too. my uncle steven and aunt linda are amazing and we always have the best time with them. so it was so good to meet the rest of that side of the family. sorry for all the family who’s who rambling…on to the wedding. it was in the quaint little town of london. we had a little spa day on friday, then the rehearsal and backyard dinner to follow. saturday was all day wedding. starting at the salon then back for makeup and to get dressed. it rained a little but it all turned out pretty well. probably the only thing that did not happen were some more outdoor pictures at the beautiful golf course. anyhow, we were amazed by how beautiful the cathedral was. it was truly breathtaking! after mass we went back to the house for a few family pictures before the reception. now this was fun because lisa and i were guests too so after a certain point we stopped taking pictures and headed out to the dance floor. so fun! thank you linda, steven, marcie, miguel, heather, brian, erin and paul and everyone else for being so wonderful to us.

here are some things we learned in canada…

every one says “eh” all the time. i mean almost after every sentence. pretty funny, eh? ha! you can only imagine how much fun i had with that!

they eat KD (kraft dinner they call it) with ketchup (only heinz brand too). that is maccaroni and cheese with ketchup all mixed in. (sorry paul i have still not brought myself to try that!)

canadians recycle a lot! almost everything, 70% of their trash to be exact! they inspired me to do even better with my recycling.

enough of all of that enjoy the pictures!

sparkle.jpg

this was marcie and miguel’s signature pose for the weekend! so as cheesy as it may be i just had to add a sparkle.

helicopter ride!!

so here is the really fun thing we did while we visited josh in alabama. his old instructor pilot from flight school has this little helicopter and he took the kids and i up for a ride. we have never been in a helicopter. i know that is weird because my husband is a black hawk pilot. but the army has strict rules and won’t let us. SO josh set this up for us and it was amazing! it is so different than being in even a small plane. you can fly just above the ground really fast and pull up and dive down. WOW!!! it was so fun!

**again more pics taken with our little g9. except the last one josh took with his camera**
