Jennifer and Lloyd

Jennifer and Lloyd were my first 09 couple! They were married at the First United Methodist Church in DC and the reception was at the Carnegie Institute of Washington. This wedding was special for so many reasons. Maria Cook of Ritzy Bee was their planner and she is so sweet and amazing to work with. I loved Jennifer’s taste in gold and her dress. Everything was beautiful! I really liked the sixpence that was an old family tradition. They had a bagpipe and that  just gives me goose bumps and feels like a wedding. It was amazing to see him warm up in the street as guests were arriving. Everyone on the streets of DC were turning heads. The reception was right across the street so we all walked over together and they entered with the Arch of Swords. That was super fun to watch! Another fun surprise was that Jennifer had as her gift to Lloyd a poker room set up. She had dealers from Dealers Choice Casinos come with tables and whisky and cigars hidden until the right moment and for the guys to play Texas Hold Em. A few months back Jennifer and Lloyd learned that they were being transfered to Hawaii. So the following week after the wedding they moved. To Hawaii! They had a lei and ukulele send off in honor of their new adventure they get to start as a husband and wife.

nat and ka-loon

nat and ka-loon were married on a cold rainy sunday at white hall manor in bluemont virginia. despite the weather this was such a fun wedding. nat and ka-loon are so fun to be around they are always being silly together. nat is from Australia and her family came to virginia for the wedding. all three of her sisters were her bridesmaids. during the toasts they wrote and sang a song to nat. it was there own version of westside story’s America teasing her about meeting a boy in america. ka-loon was nat’s boy from new york. they are so cute and sweet to each other. we went out and took pictures after the ceremony in the dark cold rain. nat must have been freezing since it was 35 degrees but we got some really great pictures! nat had so many unique little details for the day. i loved her shoes and the designs inside, the place card board with all of the guests pictures on it. how cool is that?! i also loved how many people had cameras at this wedding. i mean normally several people have cameras but this wedding took the cake! there were flashes all over the place and during the reception they were walking around taking pics too. so funny! luckily it did not interfere with mine and lisa’s shots. ;) oh ya i almost forgot to mention lisa flew up from Houston for this wedding! we are going to try and make that happen for every wedding! also tim and talida were there from NYC! it was so good to see them. congrats nat and ka-loon, thanks for being so wonderful!

jeanie and chris

jeanie and chris were married at the wortham in downtown houston. it was fun being back home in houston again for a wedding. i especially loved the 70 degree weather. everything about jeanie and chris’s wedding was beautiful and i loved the unique setting of the wortham, home of the houston ballet and opera. the dressing room was so fun and i really liked the movie star feel of the lights. natalie dawley with two be wed’s plan happy coordinated the day and everything went perfectly. i love showing up to a wedding where i know without a doubt the coordinator is amazing and will have everything under control. perfect face did the make up, stems by holly made all for the beautiful flower arrangements. I must say my favorite thing about the decor was the cherry blossom cake. macauley did an amazing job and i was so excited to hear she was doing the cake. cakes by macauley is my favorite cake maker in houston. she wowed everyone with this stunning cake. it even had it’s own speciality lighting. jeanie and chris were awesome and up for anything when it came time for pictures of just them. we hung out in the parking garage, walked a bit around downtown then we got to take pictures on stage! it was so cool being back stage and just being in the wortham was an honor. jeanie and chris kept the party going and danced all night long. at one point i noticed chris was loving the cake so much he was out on the dance floor holding his plate and still taking bites. to end it all they left in a super cool lotus! this was an amazing wedding.

jeanie’s bridal session

jeanie and chris were married last weekend but i shot her bridals for her in Houston last month. jeanie and chris’s wedding was amazing and i can’t wait to get to work on that but for now here are her amazing bridal images. she is so stunning, i love her flawless skin and she is wearing the most stunning dress. jeanie is a pleasure to photograph. her dress is from casa de novia in houston and her flowers were done by stems by holly. it has been a while since i have done a bridal session and this one was amazing! i wonder if bridal session are becoming less popular, going to make a come back or maybe just more of a southern thing.

i hope all of you have a happy thanksgiving! we are staying in DC and cooking for the first time ever! i hope i can make it somewhat like my mom and mama. also josh was in iraq the last two thanksgivings so we are really just thankful to all four be together this year.

jeanette and brandon

jeanette and brandon were married at paako in the beautiful sandia mountains in new mexico. it was a great weekend even if i was sick and taking sore throat medicine every 4 hours. funny, the few times i have ended up shooting a wedding sick they still end up being some of my all time favs. i loved the ceremony being in the mountains and just looking all around, it was so beautiful! jeanette was stunning and everything was just perfect! all of the jewish traditions were beautiful. after the ceremony we took a golf cart around and drove up to some spectacular locations to take pictures of just jeanette and brandon. these are always my favorite pictures and i think every bride and groom should plan time like this.  the reception was in the club house at paako. mary did an awesome job making sure everything went as planned. during the reception they made an announcement advising everyone to stay inside because there was a bear spotted outside. that was fun being in the mountains in the dark thinking about all of the wildlife there could be outside. lisa and i had so much fun being in albuquerque, NM and we loved spending the weekend with jeanette and brandon. thanks guys for everything!

glennie and benny

i went home to houston to shoot glennie and benny’s wedding. i was glad to be in texas but also i had been looking forward to this wedding for a long time. glennie and benny are two of the prettiest people. glennie is so fun and i just love being around her. i have loved seeing the pictures and the planning of this wedding. my favorite thing about this wedding was all of the traditional Indian ceremonies. i am so grateful to have been apart of this wedding and it was by far the most exciting wedding in a long time. between the dancers, all of the beautiful saris, the crazy fun wedding party, and the outfit changes i was on my toes all day. and it was along day. 10 hours of shooting. the wedding was at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugarland and their reception was at Texas Safari. so congrats to the self procalimed “blennie”!!! and thanks for being so amazing!

sarah and john: a wedding with kate triano

so as most of you know i have not had many weddings this summer because of the move here. so i told all of my new friends here if they ever needed me i was kinda bored and dying to shoot but only until i got really busy in october. so a few saturdays ago i went to shoot this wedding with kate triano. i had family in town and could only shoot for 2 hours but i headed over to the church to start shooting with the guys while Kate was with the girls. it always amazes me how different second shooting is from being the main photographer. as much as i like the laid back care free role of 2nd shooting, which i have only done a handful of times,  i like my job best. it was really weird showing up at the wedding having never met sarah or john. normally i am like an old friend by the time my clients wedding is happening. we have shot engagements, emailed a billion times, i have been informed of all of the wedding detail ideas, inspirations and just about everything. i normally know the brides parents or at least the mom. and i like it that way. i expect hugs when i show up at the wedding not introductions. anyhow, as nice as sarah and john were, it is just not the same. BUT i did get some amazing shots and their wedding was beautiful. as you will notice there are not any reception pictures here, that is because i only stayed for the ceremony. that was really strange. it is like i missed the party. oh well i can’t wait to see Kate’s pictures so i can see what the  rest of the day looked like. =) thanks kate for letting me hang with you and curing my wedding craves.

a little canadian wedding, eh?

lisa and i had so much fun going to canada last month to shoot marcie and miguel’s wedding. marcie is a cousin of mine. i got to meet her and her sister erin for the first time! i love my canadian relatives!  it was fun because my mom and dad in law were there too. my uncle steven and aunt linda are amazing and we always have the best time with them. so it was so good to meet the rest of that side of the family. sorry for all the family who’s who rambling…on to the wedding. it was in the quaint little town of london. we had a little spa day on friday, then the rehearsal and backyard dinner to follow. saturday was all day wedding. starting at the salon then back for makeup and to get dressed. it rained a little but it all turned out pretty well. probably the only thing that did not happen were some more outdoor pictures at the beautiful golf course. anyhow, we were amazed by how beautiful the cathedral was. it was truly breathtaking! after mass we went back to the house for a few family pictures before the reception. now this was fun because lisa and i were guests too so after a certain point we stopped taking pictures and headed out to the dance floor. so fun! thank you linda, steven, marcie, miguel, heather, brian, erin and paul and everyone else for being so wonderful to us.

here are some things we learned in canada…

every one says “eh” all the time. i mean almost after every sentence. pretty funny, eh? ha! you can only imagine how much fun i had with that!

they eat KD (kraft dinner they call it) with ketchup (only heinz brand too). that is maccaroni and cheese with ketchup all mixed in. (sorry paul i have still not brought myself to try that!)

canadians recycle a lot! almost everything, 70% of their trash to be exact! they inspired me to do even better with my recycling.

enough of all of that enjoy the pictures!

sparkle.jpg

this was marcie and miguel’s signature pose for the weekend! so as cheesy as it may be i just had to add a sparkle.
